Wee Isla and her pony Pickle make a wonderfully endearing duo.
Isla and Pickle: the Pony Party is the latest in Kate McLelland’s series about the little girl and her Shetland pony (and ‘very best friend’). It sees the pair invited to a pony-themed birthday party on their local beach – exciting news, except that Isla hasn’t actually learned to ride yet and there’s a lot to learn.
Luckily, Farmer Jess is on hand to help them get started, but getting Pickle to stop is a challenge that Isla must master for herself!
This is a lovely, brightly-colourful book, filled with things that pre-schoolers (ours anyway) can’t resist, like party hats, balloons and beautiful cakes, plus adorable characters and plenty of gentle humour. The strength of Isla and Pickle’s special friendship shines from every page.
Our copy was missing when I went to write this, and had to be fished out from its hiding place under a sleeping small person’s pillow – in this house, that’s the best review a book can get!
