Billy is a little hippo who is afraid of the water, and resists the efforts of his parents and siblings to tempt him to venture in – until he is swept along by unexpected events.
The simple, alliterative language of Vivian French’s picture book story is as lovely as Hannah Foley’s bright illustrations, and it is in the pictures, and the visual role of two cheeky frogs, that young readers will find most to chuckle about.
